Rabbits traps proven effectiveness

Wild rabbits are a pest in many places and population control is good for the environment and, ultimately, also for rabbits, so traps for rabbits and hares are the solution. The rabbit has its origins in southern continental Europe and was first exported to Britain by the Romans as a food source. Unfortunately, the British subsequently exported it to Australia, among other places, where it caused ecological chaos. Americans have their own species. The forest rabbit.

Be sure to place the food exactly on top of the trap mechanism. If it is not placed correctly, there is a possibility that the rabbit will only fill his stomach at his expense and escape again.

Open the trapdoor to activate it. Follow the instructions supplied with the rabbit trap. Make sure the trap works by testing the mechanism with a stick. If the trap does not activate, activate it again.

Check the trap regularly to see if there are captured rabbits. Normally the rabbit should not be injured in the trap. However, the trap must be checked at least every 24 hours.

Once captured, you can drop the rabbit or do whatever you want with it. Touch the rabbit only with protective gloves. Even if they are relatively harmless, they can try to bite you if you want to release them.

Rabbit trap with a simple loop

Find a condition similar to a hole in nature. Better on a path where the rabbit usually passes to get the best results, because either you place the loop on a path that rabbits frequent, or expect the rabbit to be caught in your loop by magic. A path that rabbits use often ensures that rabbits are in the area where you are going to place the loop.

In winter, it is easier to find something similar to a burrow on a road frequented by rabbits. Look for suspicious footprints in the snow to determine which trails the rabbits use in the forest.

Cut a large branch or a small tree to create a kind of funnel for rabbits. Any type of tree serves this purpose as long as it has branches. After cutting the branch or tree, remove all the branches from the center to create an opening of about 30 centimeters.

Make sure the branch or tree is large enough to resist the rabbit. Although rabbits are neither large nor strong, they can easily remove a branch that is too small, which would only make the task more difficult.

Place the branch above the rabbit's path so that the opening is exactly above the path. The rabbit is led through the small opening through the branches that have been removed.

Insert small pieces of wood or some obstacles in the ground at those points where the rabbit could slide down the side of the main opening.

Take a thin copper or brass wire and tie a small loop to one end. Approximately 4 centimeters from the end of the wire, make a small loop and wrap the end of the wire around it four or five times.

If you don't have a cable, you can also use a strong rope. But keep in mind that some rabbits can gnaw their way through the rope. In general, a wire is the most painless way to kill a rabbit.

Cut the end of the wire after about 60 centimeters.

Pass the end of the cable through the small loop and create a loop. When the rabbit jumps to the loop, the loop is automatically tightened. The frolic only tightens the loop and strangles the rabbit. This is how the trap works.

Attach the tie to the branch or tree you have placed on the rabbit's path. Wind the other end several times around the branch and then tie a knot in the cable to prevent the cable from accidentally loosening from the branch.

How high the ground should the harness be? Although the question is much discussed, many hunters recommend placing the sling about 10-15 centimeters from the ground. If the wire is not enough, tie the sling again. This time a little more.

Also make sure the loop is exactly in the center of the funnel. A loop that does not hang well in the center makes catching the rabbit difficult. .

Mark the place of the trap with a red cloth and check the trap every day. If you do not check the trap regularly, the rabbit could be eaten by a fox or a bird before you can recover your catch.

Catch a rabbit with a trap

Dig a hole big enough. Depending on the size we think the rabbit is, the pit must be several tens of centimeters deep and also several tens of centimeters wide. The deeper the burrow, the less likely the rabbit will escape from the pit.

Place the hole on a path where we know rabbits pass or in a place where you think rabbits stay for a while. If the pit is not placed in the rabbit path, the rabbit should be attracted to the pit with a bait, being somewhat more laborious.

Pick up several sticks that are slightly larger than the pit. The length is decisive. If they are too long, the sticks do not break when the rabbit walks on them. If they are too short, you can never build this well. Collect three or four of these sticks. Place them on the pit.

In the opposite direction, place small branches on the wooden sticks.

Carefully place the leaves on the branches to cover them completely.
